Have you ever wondered where tortoises came from or why the tortoise one the race (against the hare) or why they live so long? Well, in this story i shall try and answer these questions. Just a heads up...it's like this chinese folklore fairytale thing~ so if ur not into those just enjoy the pics and the video at the end =)
A long time ago in the blue depths of the ocean there lived a emperor sea dragon
he had wealth etc. but his son (the prince) was very ill.
so the emperor sea dragon searched the seven seas for a miracle cure. Creatures from far and wide went looking for a cure because the sea dragon said that whoever cured his soon would be given the elixir of longevity. Decades went by and the prince got sicker, the Emperor lost a lot of weight and developed early signs of depression. Then one day a turtle showed up at his majesty's palace:
'Duuuuuuuuuude,' the turtle said, 'You gotta om-nom-nom a rabbit's heart to cure the sickness yo son's got.'
Soooo hearing this the emperor sea-dragon immediately ordered the turtle to look for a rabbit's heart. The turtle climbed out of the sea and ventured across the sand dunes before he came to a small clump of woodland. Within the woods he found this little small rabbit munching on some tough tussock.
The turtle told the rabbit that there were carrots, cabbages, lettuces and scrumptious vegetables of all kinds in the island just across the water. The rabbit's mouth started to water as it imagined the paradise.(this is making me hungry ><')
Anyways... the rabbit was persuaded into following the turtle, who was friendly enough to offer a ride across the vast ocean to this paradise of vegetables...
The rabbit hopped onto the turtle's back and they set off. Only a few minutes into the journey the turtle dove into the water and headed straight towards the Emperor sea-dragon's palace. When they arrived the turtle handed the rabbit over to the imperial guards
and the sea-dragon gave the turtle the elixir of longevity for his wonderous deed.
'CUT THE RABBIT'S HEART OUT AND LET MY SON BE HEALED!' roared the emperor. 'Boil it until it is soft enough to swallow whole.' (irony XD)
The rabbit gasped and started to tell the emperor how the turtle had tricked him into coming but the Emperor would here nothing of it. Just as the coral knife penetrated the poor little rabbit, it screamed out that it had left it's heart back in it's burrow. (Please do not start asking questions like 'how do rabbits breath/talk underwater?'...these are questions i cannot answer...just accept them xP)
'What's this?' asked the Emperor. 'Left your heart back in the burrow?'
'Yes, i left my heart back in my burrow because the turtle told me we were going somewhere else. If i had known that you would be in need of it i would've brought it with me.'
Containing his rage the Emperor sea-dragon ordered the turtle to take the rabbit back onto land to collect its heart. (Not so bright are they?) When they arrived at the woods the rabbit hopped off telling the stupid turtle that he could, 'KISS ITS BIG HINEY' (jokes i don't really remember what he said but yeh...) so now with the rabbit gone the turtle did not have a heart to take back into the ocean.
Fearing the wrath of the Emperor sea-dragon the turtle stayed on land. It drank the elixir of longevity and slowly developed into what we now know today as the tortoise (Y)
CHYEAH (Y) TOTALLY MADE SENSE RYTE? =P btw the race between the tortoise and the hare was won by the tortoise because the hare was up itself thinking that the tortoise was stupid (due to historical meetings of their ancestors- as seen above) contrary to popular belief. =P Now please enjoy the video on how the race was actually won.
THAT"S RYTE. NOW IN TECHNICOLOUR. OMGSH DO YOU REMEMBER WATCHING THESE WHEN YOU WERE A KID? I REMEMBER WATCHING THESE WHEN I WAS AROUND 3 or 4 YEARS OLD =OOOOOOOOOO.
HOPE YOU LIKED IT GUYS!!
