I also searched up about the ABO and Rh system since i donated blood...clarification: these blood systems are just two systems out of over 30 blood systems.
O negative is universal RBC donor, AB positive is universal RBC acceptor but since the Rh blood group system currently consists of 50 defined blood-group antigens, among which the 5 antigens D, C, c, E, and e are the most important ones, the Rh factor, Rh positive and Rh negative actually only refers to the D antigen. Hence plasma donation compatibility relies only on blood type. Therefore for plasma transfusion AB is universal donor and O is universal recipient. I don't really know why they're placing so much emphasise on blood donations now since if you check the wiki charts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type#Universal_donors_and_universal_recipients and consider the amount of blood group 'O' donors we have in Australia it's stupid that they have to take blood from High Schoolers, especially when we need parental consent.
I haven't learnt anything new about geography/geology in years...but I just learnt something new today.
Check it up. I dare you. Totally useless information...unless you're Don and you want to do petroleum engineering xD
Bleh. Just brain dumping.
