I LIED GUYS. I couldn't manage to post in time, but here's a promised recount of my days up in Armidale so far.
Arrival Day (12/02/2012)
This was Sunday morning. I stayed up all night just talking to people and saying farewells and goodbyes. ='( At 5am in the morning my whole family got up and packed my bags into the trunk and headed off. We stopped at Tamworth for Mcdonald's and got to the Uni at around 1pm. After getting a picture taken for the college I got a gown/cloak...I ACTUALLY HAVE A SNAPE CLOAK NOW. ARE YOU GUYS MAD?!!!! SKYPE AND I'LL SHOW YOU MY POWERS. My resident fellow for Mary White is Nicole and she's kind of our guide for this next week or so but there are sooo many groups I'm involved in at the moment....(I'll get to those later) We spent a lot of time unpacking and just getting me settled in. It was a teary goodbye ><" specially from mummy and bro. xP I was manly and didn't cry. *takes deep breath*. I also met the people in my building at the Block Meeting...WE HAVE 24 GIRLS AND 6 GUYS STAYING IN OUR BLOCK. (Us guys are staying in adjacent and opposite rooms so we kind of know each other) T^T...good odds...but yeh xP MASSIVE DERP.
That night I had pasta for dinner and afterwards people; so mostly first years that were staying at MWC and the third years that were looking after us, had a huge party in our common room. We have a pool table, piano, table tennis table, BBQ area and EVERYTHING! At the party I met new people...INCLUDING SEAN SMITH AND ALEX KIM...I'm just blurting out names that you guys might know...haha. I got back to my room around 11pm (this is STILL Sunday) and decided to shower ><". Ok...so about communal showers and toilets...It's VERY AWKWARD. NO JOKE. IT'S ESPECIALLY AWKWARD WHENNNN YOU KNOW ALL OF THE GUYS IN YOUR BLOCK ARE IN THEIR ROOMS AND YOU WALK INTO THE SHOWER PLACE...AND 4/6 SHOWERS ARE TAKEN...ALL THE AWKIES. I also stayed up until 2:30am just Skyping/Msn-video-ing people...which leads onto the next day...
First Day of O-week
So...keeping in mind I was up until pass 2:30am I was awoken by 'Survivor' by Destiny's Child being blasted out of our room speakers at 7:00am and my RF (resident fellow - Nicole) banging on our doors telling us to get our hineys outside into the quadrangle. So in our jammies we were hustled out and sorted into 'Survivor O-week' groups. I'm in the dark blue team and my nickname is 'BENDING OTTER'. After literally getting frozen in the foggy morning (new found respect for girls in short shorts ><") we had to change into formal attire to attend orientation ceremonies. SOOO LIKE A BOSS, I ate breakfast in dress pants, shoes and my Snape cloak. NOT ONLY THAT but people were getting to breakfast late (I was one of them) and there wasn't any clean cutlery or food left...SO I ATE BACON WITH A SPOON. CHYUEAHHHHHHH!~ I'm awesome.
The whole University Orientation Ceremony was straight after breakfast and LIKE A BOSS AGAIN, I left with all the med students during this ceremony to go to our own medicine orientation ceremony. =P I met my cohort (30 guys and 36 chicks) AND WE RECEIVED FREE IPADS AND WHITE LAB COATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AFTER THIS CEREMONY...it was lunch time but then...allllllll the photos needed to be taken. D= This resulted in us arriving late to the BBQ lunch. No sausage sizzle for me =(. So far today I was thriving on; 4.5hrs of sleep, three slices of bacon and two cappucinos. FML
After 'lunch' we changed into our 'survival wear (This is a shirt with our nickname and a bandana in your team colours)' and headed down to a sports field to play dodge ball. Btw after the ceremonies we're meant to keep our shirts and bandanas on WHEREVER we go...if we're caught without them we get deducted points...=/..Here's a picture...I sincerely hope I'm not in it. xD but we came third in the competition xP
This meant that we got into the dining hall for dinner earlier than at least half the MWC people.
OMG. FOOOOOOOOOD GLORIOUS FOOD. I think I ate like a crazed maniac. *sigh* shame faced.
